Best Wishes to Our Family (2000)
by Brian King

Like it or not, the silly season is upon us once again! Crowded malls, even worse parking lots, busy streets, impatient drivers, last minute shopping, going in debt, and trying to work out visits with both sides of the family....all a part of the holiday season! Thanksgiving has come and gone. Christmas and New Years are not far off. This is a hectic time of year for many folks, yet one that is eagerly anticipated by most! Even if you don't celebrate the upcoming holidays, the preparation being done by the rest of us affects you in some way.

Most of you probably have family or friends with whom you will be spending the holidays. This time of year seems to embody a joy and feeling of closeness like no other. Dinner at Grandma's, watching your children open their gifts on Christmas morning, a fresh blanket of snow, sitting by the fire on a cold winter night....these are the things that we cherish! Whatever your religion or beliefs, it's hard to deny the special feeling that comes with the holidays.

We are all fortunate to have another family....the smallmouth family that has grown right here on RS.com! Whether you realize it or not, we all share a common bond that brings us together! What is this really? We come together to share information, help others, disagree, debate, teach, learn, and, ultimately, fellowship! Ours is a unique family comprised of people from different areas of the country, varying ages, varying experience, diverse backgrounds, and different skill levels. We are all individuals, yet part of the same family!

On behalf of the entire staff here at RS.com, I want to wish ALL of you, veteran regulars and new visitors alike, best wishes and happy holidays! Please be careful while traveling and watch out for those idiots who inevitably end up drunk on the road! We want you back in one piece! The new year promises to bring new smallie adventures, new friendships, and, hopefully, new personal milestones for many of you. When the holidays are over and it's so cold outside that you decide even your bravado isn't enough to force you into the water, grab a mug of hot chocolate or coffee, pull up a chair, and spend the winter with your family right here!

Barb, DW, Marc, Tracy, Chuck, Steven, Al A., Al P., and I wish you, our family, the very best this holiday season!

Be safe!
Brian
