H30 Polarized Sunglasses (Guest Review)
by Bill Schultz

As we all know, it doesn't take long to realize that our fishing experience can be greatly enhanced by wearing polarized sunglasses. This is especially true in clear or semi-clear water. Up until 1995 I would wear polarized sunglasses with the darker lenses. This was fine some of the time, but not the best on cloudy days and in other low light conditions.

In 1996 I began wearing the H30 Polarized Sunglass System glasses. I fell in love with them immediately. The Sport Series, which I wore for three years, looks great, is light weight and very comfortable. The wrap-around design has no blind spots and offers great wind protection. Best of all there are three interchangeable acetate lenses for all light conditions. Dark gray, amber and ultra light gray. Along with being polarized the lenses offer all the UV protection you'll need. I was also very impressed with the hard case lined with foam to store the glasses and extra lenses.

I've been a very happy camper with this system. In 1999 I was very pleasantly surprised with Hydro Optics new Platinum Edition. The virtually indestructible graphite composite frames come with three premium quality polycarbonate lenses that provide a tremendous level of optical clarity. The lenses have an extremely hard coat to help prevent scratches. The Platinum Edition comes with dark gray, amber and clear lenses. This style comes with a sharp, nicely embroidered, foam lined case. With both series the lenses are very simple to change and once in place are very secure.

With both styles it's like getting three sunglasses for the price of one. The Sport Series sells for a very reasonable $49.95 and the Platinum Edition is a solid value at $119.95.
