Larry was fishing with his son in March 2003 when he caught the 21" smallmouth pictured above. He had planned to attend the May Shenandoah Rodeo, but never made it. Below is one of Larry's posts from the message forum that sums up how Larry approached fishing and probably life in general. We've also included his chosen forum avatar.
"A guy I met on another Bass Site told me about riversmallies. Since I started coming to Riversmallies last year my fishing has improved. I "feel" much more knowledgeable, which of course is debatable. Discussions I've been involved with have gotten me thinking in new ways along with my old ways. I never felt that I had to act like I was a more experienced fisherman than I was, and any comments about my skills or topics of discussion have either been informative, or good natured ribbing. I like to learn about topics that interest me and this is the place to do it about my favorite topic. Since coming here I've learned about a couple of new spots to fish, sure, but more importantly, I've gotten lots of ideas about how to go find my own new spots, how to best utilize them and my old spots, and how to respect the resource. The site is an example of how the whole world should work. Ok, thats a bit thick, but . . ."
