The Tilley Hat Collection
The Tilley T4

The Tilley Hat
by Cap'n Chuck Duggins

It's not the most stylish hat in the world and certainly not the least expensive, but just maybe the very, very best for guiding under. The one I bought at retail, the T4, was about $60 U.S. and worth every penny! I never in my life thought I would pay that much for a hat until one of my clients showed up wearing one.

Made of cotton duck, washable, comfortable to wear, both in the boat and in the truck, on the way to the water, it is the only full brimmed hat I have ever worn that didn't bother me by bumping on the headrest of my truck seat. This is the first year of guiding that I can remember when I NEVER had the bridge of my nose or the tips of my ears sunburned! In some years past, they were painfully “cooked”! Equipped with a simple strap (it looks like a shoestring) to keep it on your head at speed in a boat, mine never left my head at 40 miles an hour....even when I stood up so that my head was ABOVE the windshield! I did get the feeling that at about 60 mph, head and all might go, but that is another story, my boat tops out at 40 mph.

Made by our neighbors to the north, in Canada, materials and workmanship are both above first class! There are six different hat styles to choose from. These hats come with a limited replacement guarantee, a four page instruction manual, a set of “brag tags”, and are worth every penny you pay for them. Manufactured by Tilley Endurables, phone 1-800-363-8737. Recommended without reservation!
