Browning Wading Boots and Waders
by Marc Hutchison

My favorite style of river fishing for smallmouth is wading. Two items that will make one's wading adventures more enjoyable are a good set of wading boots and neoprene waders. I have always had some type of felt-bottomed wading shoe, but they were made of soft materials and did not provide proper protection for my feet and ankles. This year I purchased a pair of Browning wading boots. The Browning wading boots are made to fit over waders. I have used them all year long and they will take what ever punishment that will be encountered on the river. They provide more than enough protection to feet and ankles from rocks, gravel, etc. The leather padding comes up several inches over the ankle. I have used the boots without waders as well and they perform flawlessly. I personally feel that a good pair of wading boots is the most important item to river fisherman who enjoy wading. I can travel up, down, and across rivers without slipping and sliding, which will quickly put a damper on any river adventure.

Along with my felt-bottomed wading boots, I purchased a set of Browning neoprene chest waders. I have never really used waders in the past, but I have been doing more wading in the early and late part of the year when the water and air temps are colder. The Browning waders come with an attached pair of suspenders, gravel guards (placed at the top of boots to keep small stones/rocks from getting into the boot), and a repair kit. The waders have a nice big front chest pocket for any items that you may need to secure. The waders are extremely comfortable and you never know you are wearing them. They stretch and move with you as you wade the river. The neoprene material is tough as nails. I have rubbed up against jagged rocks, washed over rapids, and waded through very thick brush. Never have I encountered one small rip or puncture to the waders. The best part about these waders is being able to get back in my vehicle with out getting everything soaked or having to completely change clothes. I just lay them out or hang them up to let air dry once I get home. For my money, you cannot go wrong with Browning boots and waders. They are made to withstand the punishment that I give them on the river!
